The Soaltee Hotel Kathmandu

Soaltee’s mission is to provide luxurious hospitality responsibly, and for this, they have been working towards pioneering innovative eco-friendly practices at the hotel.

Soaltee Hotel has been a known name in Nepal’s hospitality industry since 1965. Soaltee’s mission is to provide luxurious hospitality responsibly, and for this, they have been working towards pioneering innovative eco-friendly practices at the hotel. With the same aim, The Soaltee Kathmandu has partnered with Gham Power to produce electricity in their quarter in a greener way.

Partnering with Gham Power, they’ve installed a 506-kilowatt solar power system. With the completion of the project in less than three months, this project utilizes rooftops and parking areas, setting an example for other industries.

With solar, The Soaltee Kathmandu has replaced their environment-polluting alternatives for electricity generation. The hotel will significantly displace 196 kiloliters of diesel and curb carbon emissions by 995 tonnes over 15 years. This contributes positively to a greener future and aligns with the hotel’s commitment to sustainable development. Moreover, installing solar makes the grid power stable and this ensures a reliable and high-quality electricity supply for the hotel, facilitating smooth operations. Besides that, it is an economical option compared to other energy-producing alternatives, the hotel is expected to reduce its electricity bills by 25% over the next 15 years, making it a financially sound investment alongside its environmental benefits.

The Soaltee Kathmandu has set a positive and exemplary commitment to sustainability by embracing solar energy. This initiative paves the way for a cleaner future while ensuring efficient operations and economic benefits. Their dedication to preserving natural beauty and minimizing their footprint paves the way for a brighter future for generations to come.

We are thankful to the Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) for their support in the success of this project.
