Park Village Resort, a well-known hotel situated in the heart of Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, surrounded by lush greenery, has successfully transitioned to clean and reliable solar energy. With a 189.33 kWp solar installation by Gham Power, the resort is setting an example of how hospitality businesses can embrace renewable energy to cut costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

Challenges Before Solar

  • Frequent Power Struggles

Before the solar installation, Park Village relied on two transformers along with two 125 kVA generators for emergency backup. Despite these measures, the resort often struggled with power cuts, voltage fluctuations, and sudden blackouts, which disrupted daily operations and negatively impacted the comfort of guests.

  • Rising Costs and Carbon Impact

Inconsistent electricity supply also meant higher maintenance costs, increased reliance on diesel generators, and higher electricity bills. This gradually contributed to a larger carbon footprint, making energy management both a financial and environmental challenge.

Savings with Solar

Now, with solar power system by Gham Power, Park Village Resort enjoys improved power quality, steady electricity, and significant savings. The switch to solar is expected to create a positive impact on the environment as well as on the resort’s overall operations by:

  • Reducing electricity expenses by around 25%
  • Decreasing diesel consumption by 65 kiloliters
  • Curbing 442 tonnes of carbon emissions over 25 years

A Commitment to Sustainability

By switching to solar energy, Park Village Resort is not only saving money but also leading the way in Nepal’s hospitality sector with its commitment to a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future. Guests can now experience comfort in a resort that cares for both its visitors and the environment.

As more hotels and businesses look for long-term solutions to energy challenges, Park Village sets a shining example of how investing in solar power is not only an environmental responsibility but also a smart business decision.
