Bhagwati Laminates, located in Mechinagar-15, Jhapa, is setting a remarkable example of industrial sustainability with the successful installation of a 603 kWp solar power system. Before switching to solar, Bhagwati Laminates relied on diesel generators and power from the NEA grid to run its operations. However, this setup came with many challenges, like unstable electricity, frequent load shedding, and high electricity costs. The heavy use of diesel also pushed up their operational expenses and added to their carbon footprint, making it clear that a smarter and more sustainable solution was needed.
Recognizing the challenges, Bhagwati Laminates took a bold step toward clean energy by installing solar power in partnership with Gham Power. Although the installation faced weather challenges, the team successfully brought the project to life. Since then, the company has been experiencing major benefits like reduced electricity costs, saving overall operational costs by reducing diesel fuel consumption, and a sustainable way of operating. More than just saving money, Bhagwati Laminates is using this shift to proudly strengthen their brand, showing a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and smarter business practices.
The benefits of this transition are not just short-term but will have a lasting impact over time. The solar installation is expected to displace approximately 208.33 kiloliters of diesel, leading to a remarkable reduction of around 1250 tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 25 years. Financially, the company is enjoying a 9% cost saving, which further strengthens its competitive edge in the market. These numbers reflect not only operational efficiency but also a dedication to environmental responsibility that resonates with today’s eco-conscious consumers and stakeholders.
