Asian Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd., located in Siddharthanagar, Rupandehi, is a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare products and medicines. They are committed to manufacturing essential medicines with a strong focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability. Despite being a leading manufacturer, they face significant challenges in energy such as power cuts, high electricity bills, heavy reliance on diesel generators, and interrupted power supply which directly hamper the company’s operations.
Embarking on its journey toward sustainability, Asian Pharmaceuticals collaborated with Gham Power to install 316.8 kW solar on its rooftops. The decision to install solar panels was influenced by the pressing need to mitigate the effects of frequent power interruptions which pose a risk to their operations, especially for the cold storage of medicine that requires a consistent freezing environment. This results in high electricity costs, significantly straining the company’s operational budget.
The reliance on diesel generators during power cuts contributed substantially to carbon emissions conflicting with the company’s goal of reducing its environmental impact. By installing solar, the company aims to achieve long-term cost savings and significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Despite the extreme heatwaves and altered rainfall, our installation team successfully installed solar on their rooftops within 3 months.
This change is expected to cut their electricity bills by about 28.31% over 15 years and reduce carbon emissions by around 733 tonnes in 15 years. Additionally, they will displace diesel usage by 177 kilolitres in 15 years. By implementing this solar energy system, Asian Pharmaceutical has taken a significant step towards reducing carbon footprints, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, enhancing operational efficiency, and commitment to green, clean, and sustainable energy.
